Made on purpose.

Made on purpose.

Isn't it crazy how we get hung up on worldly identities? Our jobs, a certain lifestyle, our brokenness, our shortcomings. We get so consumed with "that's how I've always been and that's who I am or what I like" that we start seeing ourselves as such. But what if we could see ourselves through a different lens?

I was at the altar this past Sunday, weeping, thinking about what the Lord has saved me from. Having a deep desire to be accepted, noticed, and the Holy Spirit whispers, "You're safe here." I'm safe with Jesus. I am loved by Jesus, I'm saved by Jesus, and deeply desired by Jesus. And in that safety, I've come to realize that I was made on purpose. Not because of my talents or anything I can do for Him, but He thought enough about me to love me so much that He said, "I would die for her." Me, who at times can't believe that I'm worthy of such love? I'm overwhelmed by what His love feels like, and I know there are layers of Jesus' love that would take a lifetime to even understand.

When I reflect on this truth, I'm reminded that my worth and identity aren't defined by the world's standards.

Ephesians 2:10

The Lord created you on purpose, with a purpose already in mind. When I was far from God, longing to be seen, the Creator of the universe was longing for me to see that I was made on purpose. He crafted me with precision and care, and His desire is for me to live for His glory. It's a humbling thought – that He would want me, with all my flaws and shortcomings, to be a part of His story. How humbling is it to know that you were made on purpose?

When your response to yourself is toxic, when the world is telling you that you should conform to their standards, my hope is that you'll remember that you were made on purpose, by a Big God who thinks the world of you.
